Manage Pain

Relaxation techniques can reduce muscle tension and stress, therefore chronic pain sufferers who practice slow, deep breathing are better able to cope with their pain.  When you take deep breaths your body releases endorphins.  Endorphins are your body's way of managing pain. Helpful relaxation techniques include but are not limited to :deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, biofeedback, guided imagery, meditation and yoga.  Relaxation is a skill which gets better with practice, so practice your favorite technique regularly.
